MCSetup is a privately owned site that lays out the steps of starting a trucking company and lets new carriers ask for insurance quotes. It files nothing with any agency and is neither an insurer nor an agency, so it cannot issue coverage.

A request sent here goes to licensed agents and partners who place new authority business. Each insurer makes its own decision about offering a policy and setting a price.

The checklist condenses public guidance from FMCSA, the IRS and the states. Those agencies publish the requirements that actually apply, so check their pages before you act on a step.

Why a setup checklist

New carriers often learn the order of steps the hard way, such as an authority dismissed for missing insurance or plates ordered before the right registrations were in place. A clear sequence helps avoid those delays, and insurance is one of the steps that most often holds things up.

What we do not do

We do not file registrations or forms for you, and we do not publish premium averages, rankings or promises of approval. Official agencies and licensed professionals handle those tasks.

Handling your request

Details you submit reach only the recipients listed in our privacy policy. Ask once and we stop contacting you.

Who uses the site

Drivers leaving a lease to start their own company, small businesses adding trucks to haul for customers, and people researching the trucking business before committing money all use the checklist. The insurance request is optional; the setup information is free to read whether or not you ask for quotes.

If you find a step that has changed or an explanation that is unclear, compare it with the agency's own guidance, which always controls.
